Overview
- General Upendra Dwivedi departed on a 5–8 January tour confirmed by the Indian Army and the Defence Ministry.
- In the UAE on 5–6 January, he will receive a Guard of Honour, meet senior Armed Forces leaders, get briefed on the UAE Army, visit key establishments, and address the UAE National Defence College.
- He will travel to Sri Lanka on 7–8 January for engagements with the Army Commander, the Deputy Minister of Defence and the Defence Secretary focused on shared security priorities.
- The Sri Lanka programme includes an address at the Defence Services Command and Staff College, interactions at the Army War College in Buttala, and homage at the IPKF War Memorial.
- The visit builds on recent momentum that includes the Desert Cyclone-II joint exercise in Abu Dhabi and reciprocal visits by UAE Land Forces and Presidential Guard commanders.
