Indian Air Force Marks 93rd Air Force Day at Hindon on Oct. 8 With Operation Sindoor in Focus

The Air Force chief uses the occasion to underscore self-reliance proven in May’s cross-border strikes.

Overview

  • Celebrations at Ghaziabad’s Hindon airbase will showcase Rafale, Su-30MKI and MiG-29 fighters, the Netra AEW&C, C-17 and C-130J transports, Apache and ALH helicopters, the Akash surface-to-air missile system and the Rohini radar.
  • In an eve-of-event message, Air Chief Marshal A P Singh described Operation Sindoor as a “shining example” of indigenous capability and effective jointmanship.
  • Officials state the May 7–10 operation followed the April 22 Pahalgam attack and concluded after Pakistan’s DGMO called India seeking a halt to hostilities.
  • Singh has asserted that Indian strikes destroyed key Pakistani assets and that five Pakistan fighter jets were downed, claims reiterated publicly ahead of the parade.
  • A tribute to the retired MiG-21 Bison and recognition of Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla’s 2025 ISS mission are planned, after a rain-disrupted full dress rehearsal.
