Overview
- Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal confirmed the corridor will be fully operational by 2027.
- The Sittwe port in Myanmar is complete and ready to handle cargo.
- New Delhi has allocated Rs 1,000 crore to build the corridor’s inland waterways segment.
- Construction is under way on the Paletwa-to-Zorinpui highway to link Myanmar’s river port with Mizoram.
- Once finished, the route will cut the Aizawl-Kolkata distance by about 700 km and bypass the Siliguri Corridor to boost regional trade.
