Overview
- Union Cabinet has approved the Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses for 2025–26 to 2030–31 with a ₹11,440 crore outlay.
- The plan targets expanding pulse acreage from 27.5 to 31 million hectares and lifting average yields from about 880 kg/ha to 1,130 kg/ha.
- Government agencies NAFED and NCCF will provide assured procurement from registered farmers to support prices and reduce import dependence.
- 1,000 processing units will be set up in pulse-growing regions with a subsidy of ₹25 lakh per unit to boost local value addition.
- The Centre has identified 100 low-productivity blocks for focused improvement, and over 1,100 agriculture-related projects worth ₹42,000 crore are set for inauguration on Saturday.
