Overview

• The IT minister said a chip from CG Semi’s newly inaugurated pilot line in Sanand will be produced soon and dedicated to the nation by the prime minister.
• CG Semi, backed by Renesas and Stars Microelectronics, is investing about ₹7,600 crore in two OSAT facilities in Sanand, with G1 slated for commercial production in 2026.
• Officials said four semiconductor projects are currently under construction, representing roughly ₹1.5 lakh crore in investment with an estimated cumulative output of about seven crore chips per day.
• The government recently cleared four additional units in Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Punjab, expected to draw around ₹4,600 crore and create 2,034 direct skilled jobs.
