  • India’s Union Electronics Minister has confirmed that the first ‘Made in India’ semiconductor chip will enter commercial production before the end of 2025 under the India Semiconductor Mission.
  • Six new fabrication plants have received government approval and are now under construction in technology hubs including Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Pune, Gurugram and Chennai.
  • Electronics exports have just topped USD 40 billion—an eightfold jump over 11 years—while domestic production has expanded six times since 2014.
  • The India AI Mission has made free datasets available and enrolled one million people in AI training, and over 270 academic institutions plus more than 340 startups have gained access to advanced EDA tools for chip design.
  • Broader infrastructure upgrades include India’s first bullet train, which remains on schedule to begin operations by August or September 2027.
