India to Redesign EPFO Offices Into Passport-Seva-Style Single-Window Centers

Future trade pacts will carry social-security safeguards to keep Indian workers’ PF benefits portable.

Overview

  • Union minister Mansukh Mandaviya announced that upcoming and several existing EPFO offices will become technology-enabled single-window centers, allowing issues to be resolved at any regional office, with a pilot running in Delhi.
  • The government will introduce EPF Suvidha Providers as authorised facilitators to assist first-time and digitally unfamiliar workers in accessing benefits and resolving grievances.
  • EPFO will conduct mission-mode KYC for inoperative accounts and launch a dedicated digital claims platform to simplify filing and speed settlements.
  • Process upgrades already in place include automatic settlement of claims up to ₹5 lakh, eased withdrawals of up to 75% of balances, and seamless account transfers.
  • Mandaviya highlighted EPFO’s ₹28 lakh crore corpus with 8.25% interest and a Government of India guarantee, while targeting social-security coverage of 100 crore people by March 2026.
