An IIT Madras–led panel will craft the curriculum under NCF 2023, with teacher resources targeted for completion by December 2025.

Overview

  • CBSE has set up an expert committee chaired by Professor Karthik Raman of IIT Madras to develop the AI and CT syllabus.
  • NCERT and CBSE will work through a coordination committee to ensure integration, structure and quality assurance aligned with NEP 2020 and NCF SE 2023.
  • The rollout hinges on new handbooks, digital and video materials, and NISHTHA-based teacher training scheduled to be ready by December 2025.
  • The initiative positions AI as a foundational universal skill linked to the “The World Around Us” theme and stresses ethical literacy and ‘AI for Public Good.’
  • Current groundwork includes AI exposure in over 18,000 CBSE schools from Class 6, while educators warn that teacher capacity and digital infrastructure remain major hurdles.
