Overview

  • The Extended Range Anti-Submarine Rocket was designed and developed by DRDO’s ARDE, High Energy Materials Research Laboratory and Naval Science & Technological Laboratory.
  • Seventeen rockets were test-fired between June 23 and July 7 at varied ranges, validating range performance, electronic time fuze function and warhead effectiveness.
  • Featuring a twin-rocket motor configuration and an indigenously developed Electronic Time Fuze, ERASR offers high accuracy across a wide spectrum of engagement ranges.
  • Bharat Dynamics Limited and Solar Defence and Aerospace Limited are responsible for ERASR’s production, aligning with India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
  • Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said the system’s induction will significantly boost the Indian Navy’s striking power and maritime security posture.
