India to Host Triple Naval Convergence in 2026 With US and Russia Confirmed

The convergence signals India's bid to deepen naval ties through a showcase of indigenous capability.

Overview

  • Visakhapatnam will stage the International Fleet Review, Exercise MILAN and the IONS Conclave together from February 15–25, 2026.
  • Over 55 countries have responded so far, with the United States and Russia confirming they will send ships, though final numbers may shift closer to the event.
  • Officials said China, Pakistan and Turkey were not invited to the fleet review and MILAN exercise.
  • President Droupadi Murmu will review the fleet on February 18, with MILAN’s harbour phase set for February 19–20 and a complex sea phase from February 21–25 focused on interoperability, anti-submarine warfare, air defence and search-and-rescue.
  • The Navy plans to field indigenous platforms including INS Vikrant and Kalvari-class submarines, while affirming it tracks 40–50 foreign vessels in the Indian Ocean at any time and remains deployed under Operation Sindoor.
