- Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal announced the two-day Bharat International Rice Conference will take place at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on October 30 and 31.
- Organised by the Indian Rice Exporters Federation in collaboration with the Ministry of Commerce, the gathering is described as the sector’s biggest global platform.
- Goyal said the event will convene farmers, exporters, global buyers and policymakers and support the goal of doubling agricultural and agri-based exports within five years.
- In his video message, Goyal called agriculture the “soul of our civilisation” and urged a shift toward trusted branding, value-added rice products and new market access.
- IREF president Prem Garg welcomed the announcement, calling the conference a transformative forum to advance quality standards, sustainability and farmer welfare as India leads global rice trade.
