India to Host 30-Nation Maritime Information-Sharing Workshop Nov. 3–5

Delegates will test joint responses to piracy, smuggling, human trafficking in a high-fidelity tabletop exercise.

Overview

  • The third edition of the Indian Navy’s flagship MISW will convene in Gurugram under the IFC-IOR from November 3 to 5.
  • The workshop centers on enhancing real-time coordination and information sharing across the Indian Ocean Region with an operational focus on non-traditional threats.
  • Vice Admiral Tarun Sobti will inaugurate the event, with a keynote address by Sushil Mansing Khopde.
  • Participants include members of IORA, DCoC/Jeddah Amendment and BIMSTEC, with contributions from UNODC, international information-sharing centres and leading shipping companies.
  • Sessions will chart a roadmap for a resilient maritime information ecosystem aligned with India’s MAHASAGAR vision, including support for establishing National Maritime Information Sharing Centres.
