- At COP30 in Belém, Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav said India will submit revised NDCs extending through 2035 along with its inaugural Biennial Transparency Report next month.
- He reported emissions intensity has fallen by over 36% since 2005 and that non-fossil sources now exceed half of installed power capacity, achieving a 2030 target early.
- India urged developed nations to reach net zero well before their current timelines and to deliver new, additional, concessional climate finance at a scale of trillions of dollars.
- Yadav called for affordable, accessible climate technology free of restrictive intellectual property barriers and said COP30 should be a “COP of Implementation” and “Delivery on Promises.”
- India also announced it will host a Global Big Cats Summit in New Delhi in 2026 and highlighted partnerships such as LeadIT to accelerate industrial decarbonization.
