India, Thailand Coordinate Repatriation of Nearly 500 Indians From Mae Sot After KK Park Raids

Repatriation awaits Thai identity checks plus legal clearances after the Myanmar raids.

Overview

  • India’s Ministry of External Affairs said its mission in Thailand is verifying the nationality of detained Indians and will repatriate them once procedures are complete.
  • Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said India will send a special flight to Mae Sot, as Ambassador Nagesh Singh met Thailand’s immigration chief to hasten verification.
  • Nearly 500 Indians are concentrated in Mae Sot following Myanmar military raids, within a larger group of more than 1,500 people from 28 countries who crossed the border.
  • KK Park is described as a major cyber-scam hub controlled by Chinese criminal syndicates and protected by local militias linked to Myanmar’s military.
  • The group includes trafficking victims and some alleged operators, with missing passports and illegal entries complicating returns; India previously flew back 549 nationals in March.
