India Targets Arms Network: Nabha Case Supplier Held as Punjab Police Bust Cross-Border Module

Police link the Punjab module to a Pakistan-based handler who used drones for weapon drops.

Overview

  • Uttarakhand STF with Udham Singh Nagar police arrested Mohammad Asim in Rudrapur and recovered five guns and about 40 cartridges.
  • Asim previously served six-and-a-half years in Patiala jail for supplying cartridges used in the 2016 Nabha jailbreak, and his Bajpur gun shop was raided by the NIA in 2023.
  • Punjab Police say they have dismantled a cross-border smuggling module, reporting six apprehensions including a juvenile and the seizure of six pistols.
  • An earlier Punjab briefing identified Sandeep Singh of Tarn Taran as an arrestee with five pistols, with investigators alleging drone-delivered consignments directed by a Pakistan-based handler.
  • FIRs under the Arms Act have been registered as teams interrogate suspects and trace receivers, financial channels, and the network’s forward and backward linkages.
