India Signs ₹7,628-Crore Deal with L&T for K9 Vajra Artillery Guns
The contract for 100 self-propelled guns aims to boost the Indian Army's firepower and operational readiness, supporting the 'Make in India' initiative.
- The Ministry of Defence finalized a ₹7,628.70-crore agreement with Larsen & Toubro to procure 100 K9 Vajra-T self-propelled artillery guns.
- The guns, equipped with advanced technology, are designed for precision strikes and high mobility in all terrains, including sub-zero temperatures at high altitudes.
- This procurement is part of a broader artillery modernization effort and will enhance the Indian Army's operational readiness, particularly along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
- The project is expected to generate over 9 lakh man-days of employment and actively involve Indian industries, including MSMEs, under the 'Make in India' and 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' initiatives.
- This is a follow-up order to the 2017 contract for 100 Vajra guns, many of which have been deployed in Ladakh after upgrades for mountain operations.
