Overview
- On June 23, India dispatched one tonne of rose-scented litchis from Pathankot, Punjab, to Doha and a half-tonne shipment to Dubai.
- The consignment was facilitated by APEDA under the Commerce Ministry in partnership with Punjab’s Department of Horticulture, retail major Lullu Group and farmer Prabhat Singh from Sujanpur.
- Fruit was packed in refrigerated containers to preserve freshness and meet international export standards.
- Punjab produced 71,490 metric tonnes of litchis in FY2023-24, accounting for 12.39% of India’s total output.
- India’s overall fruit and vegetable exports reached USD 3.87 billion in FY2024-25, a 5.67% year-on-year increase that reflects growing demand for high-value items.
