India Sets July 1 Launch for 90-Day 'Mediation for the Nation' Campaign

Organized by NALSA with guidance from Chief Justice B. R. Gavai’s MCPC, the campaign uses online, in-person or hybrid sessions to fast-track court settlements

Overview

  • The campaign runs from July 1 to September 30 and targets pending cases in courts nationwide, from taluka benches to high courts.
  • Case identification and referral to mediators will occur between July 1 and July 30, with total settlement figures due by October 6.
  • Eligible matters span matrimonial disputes, accident claims, domestic violence, cheque bounce, commercial and service issues, criminal compoundable cases, consumer and debt recovery disputes, property partition, eviction and land acquisition.
  • State High Courts’ Mediation Monitoring Committees will track progress while taluka and district legal services authorities facilitate online mediation within their jurisdictions.
  • All trained mediators—including those completing 40-hour certification—will conduct settlement efforts seven days a week based on the parties’ convenience.
