Overview

  • The first batch of three AH-64E Apaches will arrive by July 15, followed by the remaining three by November 2025.
  • US supply chain disruptions and technical issues extended delivery from the original May–June 2024 schedule through December 2024 and beyond.
  • Each AH-64E features advanced targeting sensors, Hellfire missiles and night-fighting systems tailored for western border engagements.
  • India’s Army Aviation Corps raised its first Apache squadron in Jodhpur in March 2024, which has been awaiting these helicopters for over 15 months.
  • This induction supplements the Indian Air Force’s 22 Apaches delivered under a 2015 contract and aligns with broader post-Sindoor modernisation under the US-India Defence Framework.
