• Ashwini Vaishnaw said there is absolutely no proposal to revoke the prohibition on TikTok and the matter has not been discussed within the government.
• The government reiterated that no unblocking order was issued after TikTok’s site briefly appeared reachable on some Airtel and Vodafone networks.
• India first blocked TikTok in June 2020 on national security and data‑privacy grounds, and the restriction was made permanent in January 2021.
• Before the ban, India was TikTok’s largest market with over 200 million users, and other ByteDance apps such as Helo, CapCut and Resso were also removed or shut down.
• On Chinese investor participation, Vaishnaw said policies will be transparently communicated, noting FDI rules require prior approval for investors from neighboring countries.
