Overview
- The Sitamarhi–Delhi Amrit Bharat Express was virtually flagged off by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on August 8 and began its weekly commercial service on August 9 as train numbers 14048/14047.
- The new Amrit Bharat Express covers roughly 1,100 km in 20 hours 45 minutes with 13 intermediate stops and a maximum speed of 130 km/h.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to flag off three Vande Bharat Express trains on August 10 from Bengaluru, connecting the Bengaluru–Belagavi, Pune–Ajni and Amritsar–Katra corridors.
- The new Vande Bharat trains will enter regular service between August 11 and 12 with six-day weekly operations and scheduled off-day closures per route.
- These launches will expand the Vande Bharat network to 147 services under a broader plan to introduce over 200 trains as part of India’s rail modernization.
