Overview

- Duty-free entry for yellow peas had been allowed since December 2023 after chana output fell to 11 million tonnes from 12.26 million tonnes the previous year.
- Trade sources estimate roughly 4 million tonnes have entered since December 2023, with about 0.3 million tonnes in transit from Canada.
