India Re-Elected to UPU Councils, Unveils UPI–UPU Remittance Link at Dubai Congress

  • India unveiled a UPI–UPU Integration project linking the Unified Payments Interface with the UPU Interconnection Platform to create a secure, low-cost channel for cross-border remittances.
  • Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia led the delegation, highlighted India Post’s reach across 680,000 villages, and framed the agenda around innovation, financial inclusion and sustainability.
  • The Ministry of Communications said the vote reflected confidence in India Post’s digital reforms and noted India’s intent to pursue a leadership role within the Council of Administration in the coming cycle.
  • The Indian delegation engaged member countries on technology adoption and equitable access, building on prior work such as DigiPIN, UPI-enabled services, e-commerce facilitation and South-South capacity building.
