Overview

• India won re-election on September 27 during the 42nd ICAO Assembly in Montreal, securing more votes than in 2022.
• The country retains its seat in Part II, which covers states that make major contributions to international air navigation facilities.
• The 36-member ICAO Council is elected by 193 member states and serves for a three-year term.
• Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu, the External Affairs Ministry and India’s representative at ICAO campaigned for support through receptions, bilateral meetings and outreach.
