Overview
- The revised structure, in effect since April 1st, sets $275 for applications filed abroad and ₹15,000 for those filed in India.
- Until online payments go live, fees must be paid by Demand Draft payable to the Pay and Accounts Officer (Secretariat), Ministry of Home Affairs.
- Physical packages must go by Speed Post or Registered Post, not courier, to the relevant Indian Mission abroad or to designated FRRO offices in India.
- Reissue and related services carry set charges: $25 for routine reissue or late passport‑detail updates, $100 for a lost card replacement, and $25 to renounce, with passport updates due within three months of a new passport.
- If registration is refused, $250 is refunded and $25 is kept as a processing fee, and applicants are directed to start at ociservices.gov.in for steps and local‑currency guidance.
