India Plans to Accelerate Visa Approvals for Chinese Technicians

Government aims to reduce delays affecting high-tech manufacturing investments

India seeks to cut visa processing time for Chinese technicians from one year to less than a month.
The move is intended to address $15 billion in production losses in the electronics sector over the past four years.
Nearly 1,600 visa applications from Chinese technicians were received between November 2023 and April 2024.
The initiative is part of a $24-billion scheme to boost local manufacturing in 14 high-tech sectors.
The plan includes a fast-track portal and permits stays of up to six months for Chinese technicians.
