India Overtakes China as World's Top Rice Producer

Officials unveiled 184 ICAR varieties alongside a drive to speed seed multiplication to improve yields and resilience.

  • Officials described the new seeds as climate‑resilient, high‑yielding, and resistant to major pests and diseases, with the goal of lifting production and farmer incomes.
