Overview

• The investigation covers cold-rolled flat stainless-steel products of the 300 and 400 series following a petition by the Indian Stainless Steel Development Association.
• DGTR said prima facie evidence from the domestic industry warranted opening a case into alleged dumping and injury.
• Jindal Stainless and SAIL supported the application, and imports of the targeted products totaled about $710 million in 2024–25, according to official data.
• The probe will assess the existence, degree and effect of dumping and could lead to a recommended levy if material injury is found.
• DGTR is concurrently examining other import-sensitive goods, including wallpapers, borosilicate glassware, nylon, melamine and medical gloves, and has proposed duties on soda ash and copolymer polyol.
