India Marks Guru Ravidas Jayanti with Public Holidays in Multiple States

Public holidays have been declared in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, affecting schools, government offices, and public institutions.
In Delhi, the restricted holiday initially announced was upgraded to a public holiday, with all government offices and schools closed, while essential services remain operational.
Traffic restrictions have been implemented in parts of Delhi due to processions and events, including a Dharam Sabha at Red Fort grounds, urging commuters to plan ahead.
Guru Ravidas is celebrated for his contributions to the Bhakti Movement and his teachings on equality, social reform, and liberation from caste-based discrimination.
