The observance underscores a push to integrate Ayurveda with modern research for preventive health.

Overview

  • India is observing the 10th Ayurveda Day on September 23 under the theme “Ayurveda for People, Ayurveda for Planet,” following a March notification fixing the date permanently.
  • AIIA-Goa, the national host, inaugurated an Integrative Oncology Unit with Tata Memorial Centre along with a central sterile supply, linen processing unit and a blood bank to strengthen links with modern care.
  • Gujarat announced more than 8,000 Ayurvedic camps and workshops over the next year focusing on maternal and child health, geriatric care and lifestyle-related diseases.
  • Kerala launched 12 AYUSH projects worth ₹14.39 crore, including comprehensive maternity care, an e-hospital spanning 240 institutions, the AYUSH Yoga Club app and specialty clinics for non-communicable diseases.
  • Leaders highlighted sector expansion and export gains, yet districts such as Ludhiana reported persistent staff shortages and halted recruitment since 2020, constraining local service delivery.
