India Likely To Extend PM-KUSUM Deadline Again as Key Targets Lag

Official data show the farm solar programme remains far from revised goals, with only pump installations under Component B near 71% completion.

Overview

  • An official source says the Centre is likely to grant a second extension to PM-KUSUM to allow more time to meet the scheme’s targets.
  • Component A has reached just 6.5% progress, totaling 650.49 MW installed capacity as of September 9.
  • Under Component C for solarising grid-connected pumps, progress stands at 16.5% for the IPS segment and 25.5% for the FLS segment.
  • Component B has seen relatively stronger uptake, with over 12.72 lakh off-grid pumps sanctioned and 9.03 lakh installed, while Andaman and Nicobar, Puducherry, and Telangana reported nil installations.
  • States reported uneven implementation under Component A, with nil installations in Telangana, Tripura, Odisha, Gujarat, and Assam, and single-digit megawatt additions in Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Goa, and Chhattisgarh.
