Overview
- Union Culture Ministry has directed states and Union Territories to observe June 25, 2025–June 25, 2026 as ‘Constitution Murder Day’ reflecting on the Emergency’s 50th anniversary.
- The flagship Mashal/E-torch yatra will be flagged off from Delhi on June 25, 2025 and conclude at Kartavya Path on March 21, 2026 with Prime Minister Modi in attendance.
- Programmes will span exhibitions at 50 high-footfall rural and urban sites, short film screenings, mass contact initiatives and outreach in schools and colleges.
- States have been asked to appoint nodal officers to coordinate with the Culture Ministry and stage public events featuring patriotic songs, street plays and Sengol replicas to honor Emergency survivors.
- The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting will release an official short film on ‘Samvidhan Hatya Diwas’ online after June 22 to reinforce reflection on civil liberties and constitutional values.
