Overview
- The portal went live on August 18, allowing employers and first-time private-sector applicants to complete one-time registration and generate a UAN via face authentication on the UMANG app.
- Under Part A, first-time hires with salaries up to Rs1 lakh will receive a one-month EPF-equivalent subsidy of up to Rs15,000 in two instalments after six and twelve months of employment, subject to completion of a financial literacy programme.
- Part B offers establishments up to Rs3,000 per month for each additional employee who meets six-month retention thresholds, with subsidies paid for two years or four years for manufacturing firms that satisfy minimum hire criteria.
- The centrally funded programme carries a nearly Rs1 lakh crore outlay to formalise an estimated 3.5 crore jobs created between August 1, 2025, and July 31, 2027.
- Complementary measures including a Rs60,000 crore ITI upgradation plan and pilot internship placements are being rolled out to boost workforce skills alongside the hiring incentives.
