Overview
- The Indian Institute of Creative Technology (IICT) was officially launched at the WAVES 2025 summit in Mumbai by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
- IICT, modeled on IITs and IIMs, is positioned as a national center of excellence for Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics, and Extended Reality (AVGC-XR).
- The institute has secured partnerships with major global tech and media companies, including NVIDIA, Google, Apple, Microsoft, Meta, Star India, and Adobe.
- Phase 1 operations have commenced at the NFDC Building in Mumbai, featuring advanced labs, immersive studios, and other state-of-the-art facilities.
- Plans for Phase 2 include a dedicated 10-acre campus in Film City, Goregaon, with additional regional centers to follow nationwide.
