Overview
- Tigers Outside Tiger Reserves will in its first phase cover 40 forest divisions across nine states under NTCA coordination, deploying rapid response teams, drones, AI tools, camera traps, wireless networks and the M-STrIPES system with staff and volunteer training.
- Project Sloth Bear runs from October 2025 to October 2030 under WII leadership with 16 state forest departments, focusing on conflict hotspot mapping, population monitoring and habitat restoration to strengthen corridors.
- Project Gharial targets conservation across key rivers including the Chambal, Ramganga, Girwa, Ghaghara, Gandak, Mahanadi, Son and Ken spanning multiple states, with baseline assessments and threat mitigation central to the plan.
- Phase-II of Project Dolphin begins implementation to protect the Ganges river dolphin through training, technology use, rescue and rehabilitation capacity, fisher community networks and habitat restoration, building on a 2021–23 estimate of 6,327 riverine dolphins.
- The Centre of Excellence for Human–Wildlife Conflict Management at SACON will provide policy, technical and research support to states, following NBWL approval, with collaborations planned with BISAG-N and IIT Madras Research Park.
