Overview
- Rs 500 crore has been allocated to five consortia across ten routes for a two-year pilot involving 37 hydrogen trucks.
- Nine hydrogen refuelling stations will be established, with the program covering compression, storage, transport and dispensing infrastructure.
- The trials span corridors linking ports and industrial hubs, including Greater Noida–Delhi–Agra, Pune–Mumbai, Vadodara–Surat, Kochi and Visakhapatnam.
- Industry participants include Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland, Volvo, BPCL, IOCL, NTPC and Reliance.
- The initiative aligns with India’s 2030 goal of producing 5 million tonnes of green hydrogen, with government projections on jobs, investment, import savings and emissions cuts, while policy leaders call for electrolyser manufacturing, G2G deals, skilling and strong regulation.
