Overview
- Eight new Indian Consular Application Centres began operations on August 1 in Boston, Columbus, Dallas, Detroit, Addison, Orlando, Raleigh and San Jose.
- All core consular services—including passports, visas, OCI and other certificates—will be provided exclusively through VFS Global at 17 centres nationwide.
- Each centre will operate six days a week with Saturday openings for the first-ever VFS Global weekend service in the United States.
- A ninth application centre is scheduled to open in Los Angeles soon while full consulates in Boston and Los Angeles remain under development.
- The expansion builds on reciprocal diplomatic investments such as the US consulate in Bengaluru and reflects Prime Minister Modi’s focus on strengthening diaspora engagement.
