India Launches Eight New US Consular Application Centres

Raising India’s US network to 17 centres, adding Saturday openings and centralising processing through VFS Global accelerates services for over 5 million diaspora members.

Overview

  • Eight new Indian Consular Application Centres began operations on August 1 in Boston, Columbus, Dallas, Detroit, Addison, Orlando, Raleigh and San Jose.
  • All core consular services—including passports, visas, OCI and other certificates—will be provided exclusively through VFS Global at 17 centres nationwide.
  • Each centre will operate six days a week with Saturday openings for the first-ever VFS Global weekend service in the United States.
  • A ninth application centre is scheduled to open in Los Angeles soon while full consulates in Boston and Los Angeles remain under development.
  • The expansion builds on reciprocal diplomatic investments such as the US consulate in Bengaluru and reflects Prime Minister Modi’s focus on strengthening diaspora engagement.
