India Launches AI-Enabled Rural Internal Audit Portal

The platform is designed to centralize and automate the full audit lifecycle to strengthen oversight as the revamped VB-G RAM G rural jobs scheme begins on July 1, 2026.

Overview

  • The portal was launched on Sunday, June 28, 2026, by Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan at the Rashtriya Gramin Vikas Sammelan in New Delhi and is presented as operational nationwide.
  • Conceived by the Office of the Chief Controller of Accounts and built with the National Informatics Centre, the system uses artificial intelligence and analytics to support both risk-based and compliance audits.
  • The platform covers the end-to-end audit process, including planning, engagement approvals, recording observations, action taken reports, para settlement, monitoring dashboards and archival of records.
  • A district pilot began in Chandauli on April 1, 2025, and major modules went live in October 2025, with the ministry saying the portal will replace paper‑based workflows and create a central repository to track recurring issues.
  • Officials say the portal should speed real‑time monitoring, flag high‑risk cases and reduce scheme irregularities, and observers will watch how its AI prioritisation and audit findings affect oversight of VB-G RAM G from July 1.
