India Issues Security Alert for Republic Day as Intel Flags Khalistani, Bangladesh-Linked Threats

  • Intelligence Bureau inputs say Punjab-based gangsters are working as foot soldiers for foreign handlers linked to Khalistani groups such as KTF and KZF, with activity noted across Haryana, Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.
  • An inter-state coordination meeting led by the Delhi Police Commissioner brought together senior officers from Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan to align security measures.
  • Delhi’s North District ran four anti-terror mock drills at high-footfall sites including Red Fort, ISBT Kashmere Gate, Chandni Chowk, Khari Baoli, Sadar Bazar and multiple Metro stations.
  • Preventive steps include restrictions on drones, paragliders and hot-air balloons, traffic curbs along Kartavya Path on January 17, 19, 20 and 21, and closure of Rashtrapati Bhavan Circuit 1 from January 21–29.
  • Under Operation Gang-Bust 2026, police report 854 arrests, raids at 4,000 hideouts across six states and seizures of illegal firearm-making equipment, with wanted posters naming Arshdeep Singh alias Arsh Dala, Ranjeet Singh Neeta and AQIS member Mohammed Abu Sufyan.
