India Gears Up for Record-Breaking Yoga Day in Visakhapatnam

Overview

  • The main event will span a 26.5 km stretch from R.K. Beach to Bheemunipatnam divided into 326 compartments to host around 5 lakh practitioners.
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi will join Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and other dignitaries as the state attempts the largest synchronized yoga gathering.
  • Security measures include deployment of 9,000 police personnel, 30 dog squads and surveillance from 2,000 CCTV cameras under a designated Red Zone.
  • Organizers have prepared backup venues at Andhra University grounds and rooftop facilities to ensure the session proceeds smoothly in case of rain.
  • The month-long Yogandhra campaign has attracted 2.17 crore registrations across Andhra Pradesh and involves over 1,200 student trainers and international participants under the ‘Yoga for One Earth, One Health’ theme.
