Overview

• Defence Minister Rajnath Singh virtually flagged off the expedition as the 50-foot IASV Triveni sailed from the Gateway of India in Mumbai.
• Ten women officers from the Army, Navy and Air Force will attempt an easterly circumnavigation of roughly 26,000 nautical miles over nine months.
• The route includes two Equator crossings and the three great capes—Leeuwin, Horn and Good Hope—through challenging waters such as the Southern Ocean and Drake Passage.
• Planned port calls include Fremantle, Lyttelton, Port Stanley and Cape Town, with engagements intended to showcase India’s military and cultural outreach.
• The indigenously built Puducherry-made yacht follows three years of crew training, including a Mumbai–Seychelles validation voyage, with scientific work reported in collaboration with the National Institute of Oceanography.
