Overview

  • Ashura, the tenth day of Muharram, is set for July 6 following the June 26 moon sighting but could shift to July 7 if state committees report late lunar observations
  • All central and state government offices, schools, banks, and post offices across India will close on Ashura
  • The Bombay Stock Exchange and National Stock Exchange have confirmed full closures on July 6, suspending all trading segments including derivatives and securities lending
  • The Multi Commodity Exchange will halt morning trading on July 6 and resume operations in the evening session from 5:00 pm to approximately 11:55 pm
  • No holiday has been declared by the Reserve Bank of India or the NSE for July 7, so banks and market activities are expected to run as usual
