Overview
- The Technical Advisory Committee on ISP finalised its report on July 7, 2026 and set out a full framework for a monthly Index of Services Production.
- The committee recommended a Laspeyres volume index with 2024–25 as the base year compiled at the 2‑digit NIC 2025 level and aggregated using gross value added weights.
- The ISP will draw mainly on GST transaction data plus administrative records from railways, aviation, banking and insurance and on the new ASISSE survey to fill gaps for sectors excluded from GST.
- The panel assigned sector weights that heavily favour digital services, with information and computer services at 21.9%, retail trade 18.5%, administrative and support services 14.4% and banking 10.7%.
- A trial ISP series covering FY26 and April 2026 will be published on July 14, 2026 and monthly trial releases will follow with a recommended 60‑day lag while health and education are phased in once ASISSE data are available.
