India Evacuates 75 Nationals from Syria After Rebel Takeover

Evacuation follows the collapse of Bashar al-Assad's regime as rebels seize Damascus, ending decades of Assad family rule.

The Indian government successfully evacuated 75 nationals, including 44 pilgrims from Jammu and Kashmir, from Syria after rebel forces captured Damascus.
The evacuees crossed into Lebanon and are set to return to India on commercial flights, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
The operation was coordinated by Indian embassies in Damascus and Beirut after assessing the deteriorating security situation in Syria.
Rebel group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) seized control of Damascus, prompting President Bashar al-Assad to flee to Russia, ending his family's 50-year rule.
The Indian government has advised its remaining nationals in Syria to stay connected with the embassy for updates and reaffirmed its commitment to their safety.
