  • India reinstated visa services for Afghan nationals on April 29, ending a four-year suspension that began after the Taliban takeover in August 2021.

  • MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the updated system will strengthen people-to-people ties between India and Afghanistan.
  • In their May 15 telephonic meeting, S. Jaishankar and Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi addressed trade facilitation for Afghan traders, eased medical travel and plans to advance the Chabahar Port project.
