India Detains Rajasthan Cleric and Brothers in Alleged ISI Spy Ring

Overview

  • Delhi Police’s Special Cell arrested cleric Qasim on May 30 in Rajasthan’s Mewat region on charges of spying for Pakistan’s ISI.
  • Qasim’s brothers, Asim and Hasin, were detained for allegedly procuring Indian SIM cards that were sent to Pakistani operatives for covert communications.
  • Investigators confirmed Qasim visited Pakistan twice—in August 2024 and March 2025—to receive ISI training and admitted to receiving about Rs 2 lakh in Pakistani currency.
  • During questioning, Hasin acknowledged four to five years of contact with ISI officials and is accused of sending photographs of Indian Army installations for payment.
  • Authorities have seized the suspects’ phones and gadgets for forensic analysis as they investigate links to a larger espionage syndicate.
