Overview
- Minister of State Jitin Prasada told the Lok Sabha that the Centre is intensifying export promotion through trade agreements, production-linked incentives, logistics upgrades and district-level programmes.
- India signed the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement with the United Kingdom on July 24, 2025, with India–EU FTA negotiations progressing toward a government-stated aim of concluding by year-end.
- PLI schemes now cover 14 sectors, driving investment and jobs, with mobile phone exports rising from Rs 1,500 crore in 2014–15 to over Rs 2 lakh crore in 2024–25 as India became the second-largest handset manufacturer.
- Under the pharmaceuticals PLI, cumulative sales reached Rs 2.66 lakh crore in the first three years, including Rs 1.70 lakh crore in exports, alongside a shift to net exporter status in bulk drugs.
- Medical-device PLI projects have begun output across 54 advanced products, while the National Logistics Policy, PM Gati Shakti and the NICDP advance lower-cost, export-ready corridors backed by State and District Export Promotion Committees.
