Overview
- The two-day international conclave opened Wednesday, Oct 13, at the Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi and is organised by the Central Electricity Authority in partnership with CBIP and FICCI.
- Union ministers urged rapid, responsible AI adoption to improve demand and renewable forecasting, real-time grid management and predictive maintenance across generation, transmission and distribution.
- Speakers cited India’s scale as a driver for AI tools, noting 555 GW of installed capacity, about 305 GW of non-fossil capacity (roughly 55%), and a planned 70 GW addition in 2026–27.
- The programme runs thematic tracks on grid modernisation, renewable integration, storage optimisation, cybersecurity and AI-enabled supply-chain management and includes an exhibition and youth sessions.
- Organisers warned that practical barriers — poor data quality, weak regulatory frameworks, cyber risks and skill gaps — must be fixed for AI to cut curtailment, optimise assets and support national goals such as Viksit Bharat 2047 and Net‑Zero by 2070.
