India Constitutes Expanded Steering Committee for 56th International Film Festival of India

Featuring streaming giants in its ranks, the 31-member panel will oversee every aspect of November’s festival in Goa.

  • The government has formed a 31-member steering committee chaired by Union Information & Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to plan the 56th IFFI.
  • Major OTT platforms Amazon Prime Video, Netflix India, Sony Pictures Network India and Viacom are represented on the panel for the first time.
  • Renowned filmmaker Shekhar Kapur has been appointed festival director to guide creative programming and festival segments.
  • Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant will serve as co-chair alongside senior officials including L Murugan, I&B Secretary Sanjay Jaju and PIB Director General Dhirendra Ojha.
  • The committee’s mandate includes recommending programming sections, selecting the Country of Focus, nominating jury members, advising on awards and shaping outreach strategies for the November 20–28 event in Goa.
