India Confirms 2,790 Deported From U.S. in 2025 as CBP Reports 62% Drop in Indian Border Arrests

Each return followed Indian verification of nationality.

  • The MEA said 2,790 Indian nationals living illegally in the United States were returned this year, with figures current to October 29.
  • Around 100 Indian citizens were also deported from the United Kingdom in 2025 after due process with New Delhi.
  • CBP data show 34,146 Indians were detained at U.S. borders in fiscal year 2025, a four-year low and a 62% fall from the previous year.
  • U.S. officials report more than 2 million illegal migrants have left since President Donald Trump’s return, including about 1.6 million self-deportations and over 527,000 formal removals.
  • The MEA also noted a new six-month U.S. sanctions exemption for India’s work at Iran’s Chabahar port.
